Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the Body Mass Index and Self-Esteem of Level IV Student Nurses of Ateneo de Davao University. First, the profile of the respondents such as name, age, weight and height were gathered, determined and described. The Body Mass Index of the respondents was calculated and categorized whether they fall under underweight, normal, overweight, obese 1, and obese 2. The measurement of the level of Self-Esteem of the respondents According to 3 categories was done followed by the determination or the overall score or the respondents through the use of modified survey questionnaire which was the tool for the data gathering. With the use of the Slovin's formula, the Random Sampling Technique, the sample population of the study was determined. After which, a room-to-room survey was conducted and the data were gathered and collated for the study. In analyzing the data gathered, frequency and percentage were used to answer the statement problem number I, 2 and 3. For statement problem number 4, the Pearson r was used to determine the significant relationship between the Body Mass Index and Self-Esteem of the respondents when group according to their gender, with a level of significance of 0.233. For statement problem number 5, the t-test formula was used to determine the significant difference. The finding of the study showed that majority of the respondents is female which comprises of 59.02%. The study also showed that the respondents' Body Mass Index and Self-Esteem are within normal range. Finally, the result yields no significant relationship in Body Mass Index and Self-Esteem of the respondents when grouped according to their gender.
