dc.description.abstract This study conducted in Brokenshire Memorial Hospital, July to October 2013, aimed to understand delivery room nurse' behavior. Two instruments were used: survey questionnaire for the quantitative part and interview schedule for the qualitative part. Findings showed that majority of the 100 patient respondents were married college graduates, 26-29 years old, had normal delivery and residents of urban communities. They are full time employees having full time working spouses earning a total monthly income of 10,000 to 20,000. The caring Assessment Tool revealed that human respect had the highest mean score among caring behavior dimensions. The qualitative part of the study showed three final themes: (1) there is no one best caring behavior; (2) Transformation-Caring can be learned from experience; and (3) A nurse can play a life Coach Role. Findings can provide future researchers important information on roles nurses play in the delivery room.
