Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between the Awareness of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunode?ciency Syndrome (AIDS) and sexual behaviors of Tertiary level students. The study used the cognitive theory of Cognitive Behavioral theory by Albert Ellis and health promotion by Nola Pender its core foundation. This study made use of a quantitative descriptive correlation. It determined the level of awareness on HIV in age, gender, religion, source of information on HIV/AIDS among the level four students of different courses, namely accountancy, nursing, engineering and mass com and its relationship to their sexual behaviors. Research data was gathered through the aid of a survey-questionnaire. Data analysis showed that there were significant relationships between the awareness of HIV AIDS and sexual behaviors of the respondents. The result of the computation for this study is that the higher the knowledge of students on HIV AIDS the lower the risk of it. The study could be further improved with the addition of variables other than the ones used in this study. The results gathered in this study could be used as an additional reference for the future researchers with similar topic. This also may serve as guide to the public especially the Ateneo de Davao University students regarding the issue HIV AIDS. This could also help for its prevention.
