dc.description.abstract This study, "Compliance to Prenatal Checkups and the Incidence of Maternal and Neonatal Complications as a basis for Health Promotion", is a quantitative descriptive correlational research that determined the compliance of mothers to prenatal check-ups and incidence of maternal complications and neonatal complications in Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr., Agdao District, Davao City. It was also conducted to find out if there is a significant relationship between the level of compliance and the incidence of maternal and neonatal complications. There were 114 respondents selected through non-probability method using the convenience accidental sampling technique and were given a self-administered questionnaire. Results were analyzed using the Pearson-R test with 0.05 as the level of significance. The findings of the study showed that the overall compliance to prenatal checkups was fair. The results revealed that there is a significant relationship between the number of prenatal visits and the incidence of maternal complications. However, there is no significant relationship between the compliance to immunizations, supplementation and laboratory test with regards to the incidence of maternal complications. On the other hand, there is a significant relationship between the compliance to prenatal visits, immunizations and supplementation and the incidence of neonatal complications. However, there is no significant relationship between compliance to laboratory tests and the incidence of neonatal complications. Thus the researchers recommend an improved allocation of financial needs of every health center, enhanced information dissemination campaign and better involvement of mothers in prenatal care of their neonates.
