dc.description.abstract The study is all about gender preferences in terms of nursing care services among patient in Davao Medical Center. This is to find the effect of gender preference to nursing care services among hospital-based patient in Davao Medical Center. The role of nurses is significant in the treatment of the patient since they render holistic care. Having different clinical exposure, researcher found out that some people have their own idea that male nurse cannot render services the way female nurses do. With this notion the researchers therefore conduct the study to know whether there is a significant difference between the care rendered by male and female nurses. As we conduct the study at the Medical and Surgical ward at Davao Medical Center the researchers found out that there is no significant difference of gender preference of patient of Medical-Surgical Ward at Davao Medical Center and that there is no significant relationship between the gender preferencea and the nursing carative care. Therefore, the researchers concluded, based on the result in Percentile that the gender preference in Medical Ward, the female patients preferred both female nurses as; Communicator and Counselor, the result tied (71%) while the Surgical Ward, the female patient preferred both male and female nurses as an Advocate (77%. Meanwhile male patient in /medical ward preferred as well male nurses as an Advocate (74%) and in the Surgical ward male patients preferred both male and female nurses as an Communicator and a Counselor (58%). In analysis of Variance the gender preferences of patients in Medical ward affected the preference of patient's in surgical ward since the two wards belong to the same institutions. Therefore the null hypothesis is rejected and the patients thought that nurses rendered same nursing services even though they are in different wards.
