Patient's education is important in the patient's surgical preparation. It has been a a standard nursinf procedure to fill up a pre operative checklist before surgery. However, no other techniques have been initiated. This study experimented the use of a visual aid as a supplementary to the existing checklist procedure in conducting pre operative health teaching. Specifically, it determined the difference between the use of a checklist with unstructured health teaching (tool A) and a checklist with structured health teaching using visual aid (tool B) in terms of level of knowledge and anxiety. this quasi experimtal study selected through non probability sampling design one hundered pre operative patients admitted at Davao Doctors Hospital. Fifty patients were the control group (exposed to tool A) and another fifty patients were experimental group (exposed to tool B).
