dc.description.abstract Employee motivation is one of the important factors that can help the employer improve employee and organizational performance resulting in the retention of nurse employees. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of motivation and job retention of the nurses in Level 2 hospitals in Digos City. The study utilized the quantitative descriptive-correlational design. The respondents of this study were the 620 staff nurse employees in various categories from the three different Level II hospitals in Digos City and were selected through probability sampling specifically the stratified random sampling technique. The study employed an adopted survey questionnaire from Best Companies Group 2018. The adopted questionnaire had two parts: the first part included the demographic profile of the respondents and the second part contained the questions that established the results of the study. The tools used in the analysis of the data were frequency and percentage, mean, Spearman rank order correlation coefficient, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test. This study confirmed that motivation and retention have significant differences when analyzed according to age, civil status and length of service except for gender. It was also established that among the motivational factors; working condition and relationship to the supervisor have significant relationship to the job retention of nurses. The study recommends that Level 2 Hospitals can utilize the findings of the study to create and develop strategies, programs and interventions to better retain
