(School of Nursing, Ateneo de Davao University, 2010-11) Albano, Queen Kristelle M ; Anzures, Malizza Andrea H ; Basaęz, Ann Margaret L ; Bautista, Kristelle Bianca U ; Caballes, Camille V ; Cadano, Kieren L
The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between motivations and needs of the Level Four Student Nurses of Ateneo de Davao University and their RLE performance during their exposure on summer school year 2009-20I0. The study used the Motivation and Needs Theory of Abraham Maslow as its foundation. This study made use of both non-experimental descriptive correlational and descriptive comparative types of research. This study used the Slovin's formula to identify the sample size and strati?ed random sampling technique to determine who among the student nurses of the level four were the respondents. Research data was gathered through the aid of a survey-questionnaire. To answer the statements of the problem 1.a, 2, 3 and 4, the mean formula and the standard deviation formulas were used. For the statements of the problem 1.b, 1.c, 1.d and 1.e, the modal percentage was used. For the statements of the problem 7.b to 7.e, 8.b to 8.e, and 9.b to 9.e. the point biserial correlation coefficient formula was used. And finally, for the statements of the problem 5, 6, 7.a, 8.a, and 9.a, the Pearson product- moment correlation coefficient formula was used. Data analysis showed that there were no significant relationships between the motivation, needs and the RLE performance of the respondents. The study could be further improved with the addition of variables other than the ones used in this study. The results gathered in this study could be used as an additional reference for future attempts to know exactly how student nurses are motivated to do well in the field, to know what factors motivate them to excel.
